Perth Nightlife, Let's Thursday!

Where to eat in Perth City, Northbridge.

Last week I started my weekend a little earlier than normal. Let's Thursday is happening in the city during February up until the 9th of March with 52 bars and restaurants open late on Thursday nights. Each of these restaurants have a special on for the duration of Let's Thursday, you can check them out here!

Reis and I met up with the media crew and a other bloggers at PICA Bar near the Perth Cultural Centre at 51 James St, Northbridge. This is where we began our food discovery journey through the upbeat restaurants and bars open on Thursday night. The atmosphere was really fun, a mixture of "Finishing off the hectic work week" and "Oops looks like my weekend starts now". Who said Friday was a real work day anyway?

PICA Bar is joined onto the PICA Art Gallery. Inside are dark floorboards, white walls and high ceilings, cafe by day, bar by night. I loved the nostalgic vibe here. There were tables outside separated from the street and shaded by trees, a perfect spot for my favourite activity: people-watching. For their Thursday special, we enjoyed delicious burgers, a pint and chips before heading over to our next spot. Oh, and definitely check out the gallery, I've loved this gallery since I was in high school!

Next up, The Mechanics Institute at Rear 222 William St, Northbridge. We walked down a small alleyway and found stairs leading upwards into the bar, settled in between the rooftops of Northbridge. It was lovely warm evening under sun umbrellas on the rooftop. The seats inside the bar oozed a rustic olden-days vibe. We sat inside and tasted the Thursday Special, a $12 Hillbilly Bob Ruckus Juice, an interesting cocktail with ginger beer, larger and lime. The bar staff were entertaining and even posed for photos while we snapped away! Items like a beautiful old typewriter were dotted around the bar area. I felt like this gave the place the 'olden days' feel, giving us a peek at what the Mechanics Institute was originally back in the 1800's.

Last stop, Pleased To Meet You at 38 Roe Street in Northbridge. I often walk down Roe St on my way to the Heath Ledger Theatre, or looking for food after a big day of shopping. I almost didn't see this restaurant, I'm so glad we popped in here! There's a full bar inside with long tables and gorgeous greenery on the walls. The menu is based on Central and South American food, served as platters to share with friends. By this time we were pretty full from PICA Bar, so the small share plates were perfect! The Thursday Special is tap beer and a burger for $18, but I'll have to go another night to enjoy one!

We headed home afterwards, so full and ready for bed. Reis and I don't tend to go out into the city much, especially on a work night! I normally have 5am starts at work, crazy I know. I loved how I could enjoy a night out and still get home at a reasonable time to get a good sleep before Friday began!

Let's Thursday is on Thursday the 2nd this week, and is ending next week on the 9th March, I'll be there again this week hopefully - I absolutely loved discovering the hidden gems among the streets of Perth! Plus, starting the weekend early is always a good idea!

Thanks to Kaylee at David Gardiner PR for such a wonderful night!
