My Skincare and Haircare Essentials 2022

There have been so many new skincare trends for 2022, I feel like I almost can't keep up. It's been a year or so of trialling new products, discovering new brands and finding new favourites. Here's a quick list of a few that I keep reaching for and have re-purchased too.

I really wanted to start using skincare that had active ingredients rather than just pretty bottles and lots of fragrance. I don't want to be relying on my foundation or a highlight to give me that glowing skin look. There's a lot I've been experimenting with and while I'm not using retinol at the moment, there's a few acids and things I've been loving instead.

Skincare:

La Roche Posay Vitamin C10 Serum

In the mornings I love waking up, cleansing my face and applying this Vitamin C and salicylic acid serum. I feel like it wakes my skin up for the day and gives me a hydrated glow whether I'm wearing foundation or not. Vitamin C works well on dark spots and as someone with a lot of freckles (although fading) I like to take as much care of them as I can so they don't form into sun spots or areas of noticeable discolouration. I believe the salicylic acid serum helps with skin texture but I'm still hoping to see these results!

Queen Screen Luminising Sun Serum SPF 50+ by Ultra Violette

This sunscreen makes me absolutely unbearably obsessed with my glowing skin. You don't want to be around me when I've just applied this sunscreen, I will annoy you by asking you if you can 'see that glow'. It's normal for dry skin and really feels like it's hydrating and obviously protecting from the sun too. I love wearing this under foundation to create a subtle dewy look or with a skin tint for a really natural glow. Queen Screen comes in a dropper and is as smooth as a serum, easy to apply and I've never had any pilling either.

Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence by COSRX

Okay, I have talked a lot about skin glow already but this has to be the best for getting the glow and keeping it around too. It's filtered snail mucin and while it doesn't sound very attractive, once you've used this on your skin, there's likely no going back to a pre-snail mucin life. This product has single handedly saved my skin barrier after an at-home attempt at dermaplaning. It soothed and healed my breakouts, kept my skin moisturised so it could heal and probably so much other good science stuff I don't even fully understand.

Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment by Sunday Riley

To really work on my skin texture, the Good Genes treatment has been my go-to. I will apply this either in the morning or at night before bed. I actually find that I get a good glow under makeup with this, I think it's just a good all-round product that can be used any time and always has an immediate effect. It works to exfoliate the skin to remove dead skin cells and gives that clean girl look we have all seen on Tiktok.
