Recent Eats in Perth 2022

The Perth food and drink industry feels like it’s still going strong even after such a hit with COVID over the last few years. There’s been a few favourites that have had to close their doors but there have been so many new restaurants and cafes open up too. There isn’t a shortage of places to try!

Naber + IIII (Naber and four)

Bar and Restaurant / www.naberandfour.com.au

146 Oxford Street, Leederville

A sweet little spot in leederville, the front restaurant faces Oxford Street and the back is an outdoor courtyard with a bar and all of the disco summer vibes. I love getting a little cocktail with a yellow rubber ducky or they even make their own watermelon cruiser!

They have an amazing wine list and a pretty good menu. I absolutely love the disco fries and I’ve been craving them ever since my last visit. They have golden curry gravy and cheese melted on top. Just perfect. There’s a lot of fun new places in this area of Leederville, behind the Garden bar etc.

Besk - West Leederville

Bar, Restaurant and Bottleshop / www.besk.com.au

264 Railway Parade, Leederville

It’s always wine time somewhere in the world right? I love popping into this beautiful West Leedy wine bar for lunch or more recently, for dinner. The venue always has a good vibe and the food and drinks have always been perfect. When I visited for dinner on a saturday night, it was pretty busy! The two of us got a table without a booking luckily and sat down in the cellar area. It was a bit more private and the lights were dimmed around 7pm. It was the perfect mood for a lovely evening and a few glasses of red wine.

We ordered the Gnocchi with Vine Tomato, Mushroom, Brown Butter, Pangrattato along with the 250g Dandaragan Sirloin (well done, sorry!), Potato Cake and Smoked Cabbage. For desert we devoured the Fried Custard and the Toasted Campari Marshmallow. We shared everything and left feeling like we’d just had dinner on a holiday down south somewhere. We’ll be heading back soon, with a booking next time!

The Little Bay

Bar and Cafe / www.thelittlebay.com.au

33 West Coast Drive, Waterman’s Bay

They’re only open for breakfast and lunch at The Little Bay, but you’ll need all that good day time lighting to get a photo for instagram while you’re there. It’s an incredibly beautiful venue and the food is just as pretty.

Recently I ordered the House Smoked Whipped Feta with hot honey, charred sourdough. I would eat this everyday if I could, it was so fresh and filling. I can also recommend the Crispy Potatoes with paprika salt. They match perfectly with anything else on the menu. My partner ordered the Lilydale Free Range Jerk Chicken fennel with ginger salad and lime. Of course I also tasted this and it was great too. There was a lot of chicken on this plate and we were so impressed that it was cooked to perfection and still juicy.

We have previously also loved visiting Meelup Farmhouse in Dunsborough, they have a similar aesthetic and aren’t limited to only good photo opportunities - the food is always good too.

Bark Bar

Bar and Cafe / www.thelittlebay.com.au

502 Hay Street, Subiaco

We recently visited to enjoy their Bottoms Up bottomless cocktails on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We received a great grazing board and treated to bottomless cocktails for two hours! It runs from 4pm - 6pm, a good time to relax and enjoy sitting in Subiaco during the afternoon, sipping drinks to start off the night.

The bar staff were wonderful and the venue's vibes were great. There was seating outside on the sidewalk with umbrellas and festoon lights and cosy seating inside to keep warm on those cooler afternoons. The tickets are $65pp (non-alc $50pp) and you can book here!

Bib and Tucker

Bar, Cafe and Restaurant / www.bibandtucker.net.au

18 Leighton Beach Blvd, North Fremantle

Tucked away in the sand dunes of beautiful Leighton beach, Bib and Tucker serve up a modern menu boasting fresh ingredients alongside a beautiful uninterrupted ocean view out to Rottnest Island.

I’ve visited for breakfast and lunch before, so I haven’t tried out the dinner menu just yet. I love eating here and enjoying the view, it’s somewhere I like to take my family for a birthday brunch in the summer. Normally there is a meal on the menu for everyone's taste but they definitely have a focus on seafood. I would say that it’s a bit on the pricier side too.

I hope you love these recommendations and found a new place to try! If you want to read more about where to eat in Perth or what to do if you’re visiting Perth, see the rest of my local blog posts here.
